I totally disagree because of what is said below. How do you un-teach a bad habit without a lot of time and muscle and brain memory to over-come? You can't.

Yes, squishing the bug is wrong because at contact you do not want any weight on the back foot. That back foot needs to drag forward up on the toe or slightly off the ground.

It's hard enough as it is. Please don't make it harder.
