The major difference is the amount of arc ASA allows (ASA min is 6ft and max 12) while USSSA is 3ft min and 10 ft max. Having watched a lot of USSSA and ASA. The pitches tend to be much flatter and I think hitters have an easier time hitting the flatter pitches.
