As a young softball player, to be a productive hitter you have to use your strongest muscles: the hips and the legs. I am a firm believer that the swing starts with the hips (shoulders closed), and the hitter should bring his/her hands as close to their body before making contact. However, I am not familiar with the mechanics of a baseball swing. What is the difference between the two philosophies?

The hands should be inside the ball...
Do not know there is a difference between baseball swing and a softball swing...Do you mean rotational and linear?
