Tom, if you would please, explain how Lau was distancing himself from Williams. I just don't see it, but I'm curious as to what you mean?

See for example Lau Jr's LAU'S LAWS,pp.18-9,section on

THE TED WILLIAMS PHILOSOPHY

LAu Jr explains his dad's work basically poopooing the whole Williams rotational approach here including "premature opening of the hips, creating one-dimensional pull hitters susceptible to strikeouts and ground outs except on inside pitch" blah blah blah.

There are just poor mechanics that do this,Ted was right in my opinion and you can fine tune his type mechanics to cover the whole plate and hit for power and average.

Junior goes on "Can you imagine the immediate reaction from baseball's old-school disciples when my father,a lifetime .256 hitter, challenged the hitting philosophy of the great Ted Williams?"
