Tiger's "weight shift"

Posted by: tom.guerry (tom.guerry@kp.org) on Tue Jan 21 09:21:48 2003

Review of Tiger's swing from last year shows this sequence approaching top of backswing:

-Hips and torso turning back, hip rotation slows as torso continues turning back/stretching the muscles/elastic tissues.

-Lateral hip slide- stretching body slides forward

-Hip begins uncocking creating "separation" as torso still going back

-Head drop/sit as torso reverses and then starts club

In both hitting and golf, the "sit"/drop(preceded by forward motion of the stretching body) is applied to get the shoulders turning after the hips have already separated.

What is happening here ?
