Bat speed vs bat size

Posted by: Ricky (rickyhaley71@yahoo.com) on Fri Jan 20 21:11:28 2012

With the bat rules for our local leagues changing we are having to purchase another bat for our son this year. He has the option of using using a lighter bat with the BBF 1.15 rating or a -3 BBCOR bat. We checked his swing speed today. he was swinging a 30 inch 20.5 oz 58 MPH and a 31 inch 28 ounce up to 50 MPH with the average around 48 MPH. He will be facing pitching mainly in the mid 50's this year. Do we go with the lighter bat, then buy another bat next year, or work on the swing and go ahead and drop the bucks on a good -3?
