I ment it is more suited then linear mechanics. There are many linear hitters out there (myself early in my career included) and they do fine hitting the ball the other way but are very suspect on the inside pitch. You can live in fastpitch, especially as a left handed batter, hitting the ball the other way but eventually your hands will get really sore fighting off inside pitch after inside pitch.

In fastpitch, thinking of girls now, a fast left side hitter who combines linear opposite field punch hitting with a slap/drag/bunt short game can carry a high obp. Just don't expect a lot of rbi's.
