I am getting jammed a lot and hitting weak ground balls and my hitting instructor tells me to take my hands straight back as far as possible and I am bar arming when i do that and i want to know if that is making me get jammed and hitting weak grounders

Hi Joe,

Loading of the swing should be initiated with the legs. Any movement that the hands make should be natural and minimal to increase consistency of that movement.

Get into your stance, begin a controlled momentum back with your legs, and don't even try to move your hands back.

If you do this action and continue into your swing, your hands will not only move back properly, they will move back at the right time in your load.

Jimmy
