I think the grip needs to be loose and able to twist freely on the bat
until they naturally tighten up near and before contact.

AND

You want the grip such that it allows you to get into the correct bat
and body position and alignment at contact.


I suggest freeze-framing video of the best MLB hitters on their best
hits at contact and memorize the common bat and body position and
alignment. They are all basically the same.

You have to get there at contact whatever it takes.
