Dipping of the back shoulder

Posted by: tony de santiago (tony_desantiago@hotmail.com) on Fri Jan 23 06:51:45 2004

I was reading the explaination that is decribed on the http://www.batspeed.com/tf09.html page and am have difficulty understanding the possible cause of this "uppercut swing" flaw. (Earlier vs. Later drop of the lower forearm?) My son has a muscle memory issue and has a tendancy to dip. I am now using a large mirror at my batting club so that he can see himself.I have been over emphasizing staying level through the rotation. I have seen numerous photos, to include my Batspeed DVD, where batters are lowering their shoulder.
1. Please explain the earlier drop of forearm theory.
2. At what point is dipping to far?
3. Is over emphasizing shoulder level correct?
