Oh boy, I do understand where you’re coming from. Here's my advice. First of all, I’m no pro. I'm just a Dad who’s been studying the rotational swing. In fact, my 12 yr old son, who has been a linear nightmare, goes to the cages 5 to 6 times a week religiously; we also hit the bag before bed approximately 100 times, 4 times a week. (Our goal is to change his muscle memory) Ok, enough with my credentials (ha-ha)… I suggest lots of bag, lots of patients, study more on scap loading in order to get on plane, a hooooooooollllllllllllllllllllllle bunch of live pitching, and when you finally get to the point to where you don’t understand what’s missing or wrong, then it’s time to record your boy and have someone like Jack critique him. Believe me, your not alone, I truly and most sincerely understand what you’re going through. Hang in there and make sure your putting in the reps because if your not, then all the advice in the world wont help your son. You got to work for it.
