shorten swing for better contact?

My nephew weighs about 80 pounds and is 12! On the other hand O have a son his same age and he is tipping the scales at 13o lean and cranks the ball. Every time my nephew takes his cuts in BP he has this slow looping swing (but the kid has some stupid speed). I figure if he "Carew's" his swing he may get on more with hits than walks. He went one season without a hit. He swings a TPX Dynasty 31 -12. Any help would help me I can get anymore batspeed out of him he just isnt strong emough.
