Re: Aluminum Bat markings -12?

Posted by: Tom Waz (sluggoking@msn.com) on Wed Aug 4 09:59:43 2004

I haven't been in the market for a baseball bat for some time, while looking around I'm noticing a lot of the bats have a -12 or -7 on them, I was hoping for an explaination of what this number represents. I'm guessing it has something to do with weight distribution but I'm not real sure. Thanks in advance.

This indirectly gives the weight of the bat. A -12 bat weighs 12 ounces less than its length. a 30/-12 weighs 18 ounces....a 31/-12 weighs 19 ounces. - Tom Waz
