Is this in relation to softball or baseball? It does make a difference. Back elbows control the position of the bat head and the grip of the top hand on the bat. The front elbow generally does nothing more than control the grip of the bottom hand on the bat. The angle of the incoming pitch determines a lot about where you want the bat to be in the launch position so that you can have the shortest, most direct attack path for the barrel. Thus, the reason for asking baseball or softball. Baseball I can help you with. Softball is a different animal all together unless it is fastpitch.
