Re: choking up...

How much weight is taken off the bat for every inch choked up? Do you recommend that I teach my young kids (11 year olds) to choke up with two strikes, or does that break down the swing fundamentals?

Ted Williams says that every inch choked up takes off about an ounce. I'm not exactly sure if choking up has nay effect at all on the swing or how it effects putting torque on the bat. IMO, choking up would make it harder to reach an outside pitch that is an inch or 2 off the plate, which you need to swing at with two strikes.
