Re: Circular Hand Path--JACK

>>> I believe I understand what this concept means, but I need some guidance in how to actually apply it. Is the force perpendicular to the flight of the ball applied by the lead hand, the back hand, or both? Should this motion be AFTER the elbow stations itself "in the slot" or before?

How would this force actually be applied? <<<

Hi Hitter

There are two difference forces doing work that induces angular displacement of the bat-head.

(1) CHP – Mass tends to stay tangent to the direction force. This force is applied at a single point and is directed down the length of the bat. Therefore, a displacement rate of the hand-path induces an angular displacement rate to the bat (flailing or pendulum effect).
(2) Torque -- Forces applied at two points on the handle from opposing directions that cause the bat to rotate. These forces are applied perpendicular to the bat’s handle.

Hitter, from your question, I am not sure which concept you are referring to. I can say that to generate the most productive CHP, shoulder rotation should accelerate the first movement of the hands (as a unit) perpendicular to the path of the ball.
