My "Eclectic" Swing

Posted by: BHL (Knight1285@aol.com) on Tue Mar 1 13:35:10 2005

Hi Jack,

After adjusting my swing through observation, research of a plethora of sources, and a perusal through historical theoretics, I have a "temporary idea" (i.e., subject to change) of how my swing should appear at impact:

1) The front foot should be rolled over and open 90 degrees (Epstein).
2) The back foot should be on its "ball" and be facing the pitcher (Epstein).
3) The front leg should form an "l" (Mankin).
4) The back leg should form an "L" (Mankin / Epstein).
5) The back should be arched (Nyman).
6) Both arms should back near extension (Epstein / Ferroli).
7) The back palm should be "up" at contact (Epstein / Hudgens).
8) The bat should be below the hands (Epstein).
9) The chin should be looking up (Epstein).
10) The entire body should be leaning away from the plate (Epstein).

If you disagree with the content inherent with this post, please specify the number-line(s) carrying information that is / are questionable.

I hope you continue to mentor hitters seeking self-improvement, as you are doing with me.

Best Wishes to Jack and Brian,
BHL

P.S. Some other important thoughts are the concept that every pitch must be pulled (BHL), and that all bat speed must be generated "before or at contact" to maxime hitting (Mankin). Remember, I am describing just my swing, so feel free to disagree
