Heavy weight training can and should be done year round. The more you can do, the better. Now, when I say heavy, I don't mean bench pressing your max every day, like a bodybuilder might... but more like a strong/'heavy' combination of plyometric and agilities, and weights.
Lifting, lifting, lifting, breeds confidence. Hangs cleans, "the throwers ten" shoulder series, squats, push-ups, pull-ups, bicycle crunches and a forearm series, and some bike riding/running is a good place to start. Just listen to your body, mix it up, take a week or two off here and there, and you'll notice a big difference almost immediately. Thanks.
