Easton Synergy

I bought a Easton Synergy LSTN1 bat for my son. The bat does not have the pop that other bats have and it makes a wierd sound when it hits a ball. I realize it is a composite bat but his last Easton composite Connexion CXN bat had a lot more pop and didn't sound like it was broken. The other kids on the team have tried it and nobody likes to use it. Has anyone had or heard of a problem with this 2008 model? I think I will try to return it but I don't know if I will be able to.
