Dear Shawn,
You are correct. As I told Tom.guerry, the muscles of the rear buttock causes rotation in the thigh, which, in turn, rotates the lower leg and the foot.

Actually, the hips (buttock muscles) are the strongest part of the body). Actually, it is also good for diving, it helps me do a triple somersault and land on my feet in the water (I've been cliff diving for some time--8 yrs--although I am a big man).

If rotation benefits other activities, I wonder why linear approaches are still being promulgated. But I made my choice.
