Tom,

Connection is defined as the position that are hands are passing our front shoulder. When looking at a video, measure up the hands, elbow and the stripe or seam of the pants, if they line up then you have a proper relationship between your upper body and lower. In addition, make sure at this point of the swing that the bat does not loose its angle (flatten out).
