It's called connection. With connection there is a load to be moved by the lower half. Without connection (your swing model) there is no load to me moved by the lower half. Your students do not use their lower half properly. Therefore no work to do.

My students feel the load and have to work to move it. And, when they learn "how".......BINGO.....will carry them through their genetic lifespan.

Yours will fold early. Never learned what it is to rotate a connected body.
