While the weight is going the same direction, a baseball swing is much different. To control the bat and have power, you must not let your weight go over the front foot. I like to tell my students that it is like playing "tug of war." The force of the bat is pulling you away from the plate while your lead foot is stopping it.

In fact, shouldn't the action of the front leg push back the front shoulder and the weight in the baseball swing such that the weight actually finishes back? So in baseball, the weight finishes back, while in golf (because the clubhead can never go below the plane of the earth, where the ball is perched), the weight finishes forward.
