What causes the ball to to go downward instead of straight?

Posted by: Michael (mdesbois@yahoo.com) on Mon May 7 08:07:14 2001

Hi, would love any advice anyone can provide. My daughter plays fastpitch softball at the 12U travel level. She's a terrific hitter, lots of speed and strength, however over the course of the last 4-6 weeks, she's had a tendency to hit the ball into the ground. Makes contact a lot, however hits a lot of grounders instead of straight, for example against very good pitchers she will tend to hit the pitching mound. Can anyone tell me what causes this? Her coach believes her upper body is rotating to quickly on the ball and that she needs to slow down just slightly. Thanks much in advance.
