Slipping top hand before contact, necessary?

Posted by: Henry D (dearborn@lisco.com) on Mon May 7 13:36:55 2001

Jack,

When doing a swing analysis for my son,one of the comments you made was that the top hand should not grip the bat tightly so that the top hand will not bind up and can slip into proper position at contact - I assume proper position means top hand with palm down and bottom hand with palm up.

My question: Is it possible to initiate the swing with the hands already in proper contact position so the top hand doesn't have to slip around the bat during the swing. Or, is this not a good idea because the hands won't be in a strong position to initiate top hand torque?
