torque

I am beginning to understand torque more I think and how Jack feels it can contribute so much.I have always thought the hands and forearms needed to be strong ,and that the strength I could feel in them during the swing was from my pulling them to the ball.Palmeiro, talks of throwing the hands, some are called wrist hitters, and often you here of hitters with quick hands.I believe all of these phrases are talking of the same thing however they can be interpreted differently. When talking of the hands you must realize they are not an island by themselves[[ex.clear the hips throw the hands.]I believe torque can make a big difference in the angle the ball hits the bat,the amount of torque supplied can accelerate or slow down the bat to aid in solid bat to ball contact, while not necessarily creating ultimate bat speed.I believe I am back where I started 2 years ago with the idea that the hands are a critical in hitting, not just for batspeed ,but also for solid contact, however I have a new understanding of how they must be integrated into the total swing and that what is really important is their relationship to the shoulder rotation.
