Dropping your hands isn't neccesarliy bad, it's just the issue when you drop your hands that can disturb your rhythm if it is not done correctly. There have been many great hitters that "hitch" during their swings. Just, for now, think about getting your hands into a set position during your stance and work on transfering that to your swing. Here is a tip that might work; when you think about your hands, try using a toe tap to replace the "hitch" in your mind. It sounds like that this is a timing issue so just, for now, replace the toe tap with the "hitch" in your mind. So when the ball is coming towards you work on that "toe tap" for a timing mechanism.
