Of all the great hitters who had the best swing and why? Ruth, Williams, DiMaggio, Aaron, Mantle, McQuire, Griffey, Sosa etc.

Hey People,

Most of these guys were average hitters unitl the juiced up the ball to bring back fans after the strike. Think of it. Ruth hit 60 in 1929. Nobody comes close until 1960 (61?) 30 years. That record stands until 1998 (another 38 years) then TWO guys do it in the same year and now, three years latter another guy is on a path to doing it. Plus all the guys who were never know to hit homeruns are hitting them.

Hot ball or not, who can compare to the Splendid Splinter.

Besides, before you can pick a hitter you have to decide which is important, power or consistancy. McQwire hits homeruns, yes, but he can't hit for average, can't hit in preasure situations and his team dosen't win. Whats so great?
