> HI,
> ARE YOU GUYS SAYING THAT YOU SHOULD THROW YOUR HANDS TOWARD THE P ITCH, PLEASE EXPLAIN. >>>>GRC ,I said I would respond after Jack ,however I would have to disagree with him and MD on this one which is rare.If we can all go out and can take some free swings somewhere I suggest that we do it with the focus just on hip rotation only as MD said.Let's even think just hips and shoulders and added step but no hand torque no tht no bht just rotation and were going to let the rotation of the shoulders bring the bat around.Remember let's let the shoulders bring the bat around with no help from the forearms or hands. If you do it as I am you will have very little, yet as soon as you include torque as Jack has shown, you have it all. This is where my thought of Bond's and palmeiro are going.Clear the hips and throw the hands. The beginning is as MD says rotate the hips which is what they mean by clear the hips then the shoulders are naturaly started for them but their focus is on the end which is the hands coming through on plane bringing the bat to the ball and it is here where I think varying amount of torque and shoulder turn can put a ball in a certain direction or help get the fat part of the bat on the ball.In my opinion the perfect swing over and over does not make a great hitter necessarily, hitters are going to be fooled and the adjustment in mid swing that sometimes looks like a glitch is often how good hitters overcome an offspeed pitch or catch up to a fb under their hands, where a smooth rhythm swing and the timing is off and not adjusted for gets them out front on the end of the bat or jambs then on the hands because they did'nt get the fat of the bat quicker on the ball as we talked of Piazza's W.S. H.R. last year.Sure shoulder turn is a big part of it to keep things rotating but if the focus for these guys is the torquing of the bat and the adjusting they do with them and their mechanics with the shoulders are sound then I suggest their cue will work, alpha omega ,hips and hands, beginning and end. These are cues for ML hitters to get them started right and finish up right, just know how to direct this on younger hitters, make sure the middle is right and the front arm stays connected.I simply suggest this since I felt this to, it worked for me ,it was part of my look away and react in,the react in was when I stayed closed first looking away then had to explode my hips and throw my hands to catch up to a 90+ inside fb,lastly let me suggest that when a hitter of their caliber is saying throw the hands, that's what torque feels like as the hands come flying the bat around.
