Concentrate on hitting the ball square??

I read some people saying we should concentrate on hitting the centre of the ball. I'm doing that, I'm hitting line drives that drop 5 feet in front of the outfielders, that's all. So how can I hit home runs that way? Do you think McGwire Griffey, etc. focus on hitting the centre of the ball?
