> I am in a 12 inch softball league and have been in a horrible slump where it seems like I am flying out every time up. Am I dropping the back shoulder? It seems like I am almost jamming myself and then flying out to either center or left field. What drills can I do to force me to hit line drives or ground balls. FYI, the league I am in has very long fences so swinging for the fences is not a good idea. Line drives over the infield or into the gaps is the way to go. Thanks for any advice.

Try making sure you stride toward the pitcher and follow the ball all the way. You may be pulling off the pitch.

Experiment with different weighted bats. Some players cannot use these modern bats many of which are very light.

Also, since you are in a slow pitch league you may benefit from running up in the box and then swinging away (and or chopping the pitch).

Be sure to observe the successful hitters on your team and in the league. A lot of guys are willing to lend advice that may have observed you hit.

The late Ted Williams always picked the brains of those who were successful in the field of hitting.
