What are you thoughts on backspin of the baseball....mainly teaching kids to actually swing down on the ball, hit it with that angle to create backspin. To me, if you take the cos of that angle x the power applied, you are deducting the amount of force you are putting on the ball, thus, not hitting the ball as hard or as far. Also, the backspin will only add lift to the ball, not speed...as I have heard coaches saying.
