Hey Jack,
I think Chipper would not need this drill though.
We are talking about a young player that may need more muscle memory and when he/she gets a bit larger like Chipper he/she may develop a better swing that "may" incorporate the "dropping of the bat head" if he/she chooses to or falls into the natural aspect of his/her swing.

I dont think Chipper was instructed to drop the bat head this is a part of his swing that is natural.
I can hear a coach now "drop that bat head just a bit like Chipper!"
