Acceleration vs. Deceleration

Deack Jack and others,
I believe Jack has a valid point of hitting the ball at its highest point of acceleration. Nevertheless, I see an apparent peril in such a manuveur: doing so might result in hitting the ball where the bat is past its maximum bat speed, and slowing down, resulting in a loss of power, since accelerating speeds are not infinite, for the same reason there is no such thing as a perpetual working machine. I would much rather hit through the ball, that is, hit the ball while it is still acceleration, then hit the ball when I have already expended my energy, and my bat is decelerating. Any thoughts are welcome.
Happy New Year,
