popping up

I beleive my son (17 yrs old) has a fundamentally strong swing. He does go through spells where he pops a lot of balls up. ( infield , shallow outfield ) I can not see what is causing this. Any suggestions what to look for, I do not want to make any major swing changes. I would like to have your thoughts.
