Forgot to mention one rather obvious but very important thing-

There is no way the bat velocity after impact can be even close to what it was before or at impact. There is recoil in any collision (reduction of velocity of the sriking mass) and in our case the bat will lose about 30%. So the term dv will be negative- it HAS to be. So, even IF you could acclerate all the way TO contact, this would still be the maximum velocity point (contact.)
