In the section of this website entitled "Mechanics that generate bat speed" it shows a hitter displaying the circular hand path. His top hand starts back toward the catcher? Huh? Shouldn't the swing be at a downward angle? The knob of the bat leads, right?

I suggest, after reading the other sections, that you go back through the archives of the discussion board. Reading all of it would be daunting, but at least read anything posted by Tom Guerry or Jack Mankin.

Hey whoever the guy asked a question shows a hitter displaying the circular hand path. His top hand starts back toward the catcher? Huh? Shouldn't the swing be at a downward angle? The knob of the bat leads, right?
Thats what he asked and you respond by saying he should keep reading (and guessing, right?)Since you didnt anser the question I will.If your in the batters box waiting for a 90 mile fastball the last thing on your mind when you think swing!!! is to be trying to turn the hand towards the catcher. Hello!!!! The ball is coming from the pitcher not the catcher!!!Yes the bat starts down but then goes up again.Yes the knob leads but knob becomes an axis used to bring the bat around.
Now the wise guys can ether refute what I say with evidence or they can say "we are the experts keep reading until you understand"
