Fouling Balls Straight Back

Jack (and others who want to respond) My son has recently started fouling alot of balls straight back. I am told that is usually a good sign but he seems to be doing it too often on the best pitches to hit. A few weeks ago I moved him back in the box and am know wondering could this be causing him to miss these pitches.
