Re: Leg Power

Posted by: Major Dan (markj89@charter.net) on Sun Mar 31 13:50:35 2002

It seems like most people agree that having leg strength will translate into more power in both hitting and pitching. I understand how it would be for pitching, but not exactly to a rotational hitter. Many people are taught to have a soft and short stride for rotational hitting, and I agree with that. What I don't understand is how hitting like this would require much leg strength. It seems like almost all of the power would come from the hips, and not really from the legs. If this is true, is there any advice on how to use the legs more for rotational hitting? Would someone please clear this up to me?

How exactly do you rotate your hips? What muscles?
