What causes this

I have a question regarding the one-handed drills. If I take one-handed swings the timing of hitting the ball is very easy. My accuracy is limited, but timing is not an issue. It's easy to get the bat head to the ball on time. When I put both hands on the bat, timing seems much more difficult. Why?
