I think I adressed you and another post together.

To address your question. Yes, his elbow coming up is directly related to how he creates bat speed. The reasons I posted above.

It gets the hands up and back and into the plane of the shoulders. Hitters who push their swings while keeping the elbows down (extension mechanics) never get the hands in a good position to create bat speed earlier.
