Maple bats are where it is at. They typically last longer, and when dried on planks for at least a month, sugar maple bats tend to have less barrel separation, and less impact cracks on the skinny section of the handle. I have one highly recommended brand, but it isn't public because it is being used in a large wood bat only college fall ball league and in some minor league camps in Arizona. Drop me a line and I might be able to hook one up.
