The single most important difference is two-fold.

1) How and when and to what degree the barrel is turned rearward by the hands/forearms.

and...

2) The impact of that hand/forearm movement on how the body organizes itself to do the work....namely the shoulder bypass versus of shoulder rotation.

The lead arm and it's pull on the knob that comes from it's attachment to the lead shoulder, in the shoulder rotational swing, is an absolute killer.

Summarize the difference...

The hands turning the barrel as compared to the knob being pulled by shoulder rotation.
