I am considering buying a wooden bat to practice with. Does anyone know the cost of a typical wooden bat? Also, is it a good idea to practice with it and are you alllowed to use wooden bats in high school games?
> I encourage kids I coach to use wood for practice and aluminum for games. Wooden bats force the batter to clean up mechanics. The "sweet spot" on a wooden bat is much smaller than that on an aluminum bat. In short, if you can learn to hit well with a wooden bat, you will have no trouble with aluminum. The opposite is not necessarily true.

Youth models up to 31" are $24.99, $19.99 if you get three or more. Shipping is free. Definitely get one/some. They won't allow you to get away with arm hitting.
