What I've notice with most major league and real power hitters is how the weight comes off the back foot and in some cases (Micky Mantle, Hanley Ramirez, etc.) off the ground as they make contact. Is this strictly because of the rotational mechanics and specifically the rotation and power of the hips?

Would it be easier for the back hip to turn, if it didn't have a 50 pound boat anchor (the rear leg weighted)?
