hi randy .I think you got good advice from someone on this web site who told you its ok to get lead arm extension, as long as its in your load. .
To attain a good load this web site teaches the hands do not just go straight back towards the catcher ,they also go back and in closer and slightly beyond the rear shoulder area as well. For a nuber of important reasons. The term hide your hands from the pitcher is used.Barring the lead arm is wrong, if you are in the middle of your swing with your lead arm bent and then bar it out into contact.
This will kill your abilty to hit the ball hard.If you do this
You will be pushing with just arm power and disconnecting your arms from you rotating body .So its ok for you to get lead arm extension in your load, just so you keep the same angle in the lead elbow all the way to contact. But I think you are afraid that your lead arm extension is making your swing long?
Its not lead arm extension that makes your swing long .As long as you attain lead arm extension early in the swing and keep your elbows close to your rotating body until contact. it is possible for you to get lead arm extension early and still be quick to the ball many great hitters do this. Its what you are doing with your rear arm that will make your swing long or not. Once the rear arm, rear elbow, and rear forearm are( rotated) down in the slot postion next to the ribs and hip area. The rear elbow, and rear forearm, should stay (bent)and close to ribs , if you let the rear elbow, and rearforearm ,unbend to much or fly away from your rib, and hip area during the swing . it will makes you swing long. This website has videos on youtube and instructional videos that explain it much better then I can. good luck
