The main point that everyone misses when focusing on how high the back elbow happens to be is the relationship between the back elbow and the hands. If the back elbow is higher than the hands, it is tougher to get it into a good leverage slot during the swing. The hands should be higher than both elbows no matter how high or low the back elbow is. If a hitter has a high back elbow, that is fine as long as his hands are higher than the elbow. It also helps when the back elbow is at least the same height as the front elbow. When the front elbow starts higher than the back elbow, there is leverage and torque lost.
