Im not saying squishing the bug doesnt happen or is wrong. But I do know that you can squish the bug by spinning the back foot and not turn the hips, and shoulders which is wrong. I believe if the batter firms up and extends his front knee, at contact. his hips, will work correctly the lead shoulder will pull back to the catcher at contact. and the back foot will twist as a result of the hips and shoulders turning. so I thing the back foot turns as a result of the hips and shoulders turning correctly and not trying to spin it by it self.
