Hit and Run - Pulling Ball

Posted by: Cameron (cmcdougall999@gmail.com) on Thu Jul 28 12:02:40 2011

Last night my 14 year old sons coach was teaching hitting between 1st
and 2nd on a hit and run. What he wanted was the batter to not be back
on the ball but be leaning forward at contact with a bent front leg and
"push" the ball between 1st and 2nd whether or not an outside, inside or
up the middle pitch. Seemed irregular to me as I've only taught my son
to either hit the outside "in" on the plate or the inside well in front
or up the middle out in front. Usually my son has a stiff front leg at
contact. They told my son that's not the way to pull the ball. Any
thoughts!!
