Start with Launch Position

I'm wondering what would be wrong about setting up in a stance with the bat held in the launch position (with back arm in V with elbow at your side), instead of having a standard stance with your back elbow up and your bat held up and away from your body? Seems like you could still add a little pre-launch torque and you cut down on the problems like dropping the hands and bat drag. What do you give up with just starting from the position that every batter gets right before the swing is initiated? Thanks...
